Walker’s Electric is growing! We are looking to add qualified electricians/powerline technicians to serve the broad base of customers we have built in the Midland, Penetanguishene, and surrounding communities over the past 85 years. We are a third-generation, family-owned business dedicated to providing outstanding workmanship and performance to:
- Local towns, municipalities, and government agencies
- Residential homeowners, property managers, and developers
- Commercial and industrial businesses
- Water / waste-water treatment plants
- General Contractors on large projects
We are currently hiring licensed 309A electricians who are also certified as powerline technicians for high voltage work. The successful candidate should possess a variety of skills and experience, including:
- Service, maintain, and repair the overhead and underground electrical transmission and distribution systems
- Erect and maintain poles and structures
- Splice and terminate conductors and related wiring to connect power distribution and transmission networks.
- Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams, and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new or existing installations
- Test electrical components to ensure a safe and effective installation
- Inspect electrical systems and equipment for any damage, malfunctions, and safety hazards
- Identify, analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve problems with equipment and electrical faults
- Communicate with clients in a professional, courteous manner
- Collaborate with other trades, contractors, and other crew members
What you should have:
- Powerline technician certification (434A)
- 309A Electrician certification
- Valid G Class Driver’s License.
- Basic tools (we have lots of specialty tools/equipment) and PPE
- Working at Heights (from a Ministry of Labour approved Training Provider)
- Elevated Work Platform
- Worker Health & Safety Awareness
- WHMIS
